The article describes warm mix production using chemical additives, which is one way to produce warm mix, but there is another option. It requires a significant capital equipment investment but uses plain water instead of chemicals as the additive to produce Warm MIx. Baker Rock Resources has made this investment and is currently using and offering Warm Mix as a No Cost alternate in lieu of conventional Hot Mix. The benefits of potential higher recycle contents, reduction in fuel usage and significant emisssion reductions remain the same. We have done several Washington County and ODOT projects with great success. Millions of tons of warm Mix have been produced in Europe and hundreds of thousands in the US and it is proving to be every bit as durable as conventional Hot Mix. I beleive we are the only supplier in the Portland Metro area with Warm MIx equipment installed.
