I recently made some repairs to my mom’s forced air furnace. My son who lives with her was just out of the “contagious/fever stage” of the influenza A. Mom sprayed the house to protect me as I don’t do flu shots.
A few days later I began to get sick. I now have influenza A, the first flu episode in 30 vaccine free years.
Could the virus have been lurking in the inner workings of the furnace? I’ve wondered about just a situation for quite some time.

I think it is time ,in light of preventative technology, ie lights, humidifiers,air flow,perhaps an automated sanitizer into the air handling system,to be included in new building construction. It is ridiculous the amount of time lost because of the ever morphing flu. We can’t prevent everyone from getting ill, but its worth the effort.

never thought an hvac system would so dramatically change my family’s live’s but on aug 6th the hvac heating unit at my wife’s company office of pge came on and her throat was burned by the smoke that it emitted. she has constant nearly crippling pain in her throat and ears. we have been to 8 doctors, her workers comp claim was denied and she is being fired. her current doctor feels she may suffered perminate nerve damage.
