I could write a love poem about slower clickety-clack happy times riding the Budd car along the wild Susitna, snaking through unspoiled bear forests, hanging out the open side door laughing, to my remote cabin trailhead where eagles roost and unplugged silence waited patiently.

Shed a diesel tear and long lonely whistle … goodbye to that beautiful tin car on its savior wheels…
