If developers think this is the kind of “desirable” place to locate, they should wait to see what the official 2010 census tells about about growth (or shrinkage) in Oregon cities like Molalla. Why locate to a place filled with half finished developments, foreclosures, and citizens who are already angry about the bad planning and poor management that has created a city with low quality of life? If a town run behind closed doors by a “good old boy” network is what you are looking for or if you would like to spend extra money cleaning up brownfields before you break ground, Molalla is your kind of place.

Otherwise, pay the SDCs and go to towns with a future, towns which provide sidewalks, bike lanes, great parks, good sewer systems, certified planners and all the other quality of life features that make cities vibrant. No SDCs equal desperation. End of story.
