I really would like to hear the sound of a passenger train though our fast growing area,to get me to my family, in Seattle, Portland & the hopes of not driving.I know countless persons that would also, take advantage! arts,music,better flight connections,the great pacific northwest!!!

I would like TO SEE AMTRAK CASCADE GO ALL THE WAY DOWN FURTHER FROM Eugene down south to Roseburg,Grants pass,Medford and may be going to Klamath Falls Oregon.As the population grows down south,so dose the need for more rail passengers and cut the red tape preventing us from going there….I think its O.k. to spend money on this issue!

As a 10-year resident of Portland, I know how an electric streetcar can revitalize neighborhoods and join communities. Willamette Street in Eugene is very flat and would be ideal for a streetcar. Downtown has suffered with 2 1/2 blocks of vacant storefronts for a decade.
Did Eugene convince itself its too small for a streetcar? Haven’t you experienced the Portland Streetcar?
Vancouver BC has computer-operated light rail called the SkyTrain that has not failed since 1986 and runs every 2 minutes during the rush hour! It’s a magic train that stops automatically!
When can we live as Cascadian and rejoice in Vancity?

ODOT is planning to remove the trains from Oregon City if they ever get federal interstate rail stimulus dollars (they did not last year). Their plan is to reroute through Tualatin. Not altogether a bad idea. This is a Oregon City centric article for some reason, so the developer may want to reconsider his plans.

It would have been nice if some of those billions and trillions of stimulus dollars that ultimately propped up government retirement programs would have been used to improve rail service here in Oregon. Namely, the orphan section of line from Eugene that ends near Weed, Calif., could have been upgraded and restored to passenger capabilities. For now it’s no more than a 25 mph backwaters track that carries what little lumber is now produced in the region.
