Mark “Dollar Store” Edlan is running out of room in Portland to screw up projects.

The South Waterfront desperately needs more people to support the stores and to give it a populated neighborhood feel, which will benefit the existing residents. About the only construction projects that can get built anywhere now are affordable housing buildings. Being affordable, they’ll fill up right away. So you get needed affordable housing, construction and design jobs, more SoWa residents (and a mix of incomes in the neighborhood) and the neighborhood gets one step closer to build out.
