Most churches have an ELECTED board that oversees the expenditures. Scientology does not. It has a few high ranking officials that create emergencies and “great” ideas for parishoners to spend thier money for, on top of the services they are paying for. There is so much financial flim-flammery going on that it will most likely take a forensic accountant years to figure out how much the church has scammed from it’s public.

The real reason they’re looking for a new building is they don’t have the money to remodel this building.
Scientologists in the area just can’t afford to not only pay Scientology $400,000.00 or so for all the Scientology services they need AND donate to have a new building.
They’ve been taking donations for the remodel for a few years now. I’m sure the cash is drying up with more and more Scientologists waking up to what DM is doing to their “church”.

Since moving to L.A. a little over a year ago I’ve noticed the appearance of vacant real estate owned by Scientology on Hollywood Blvd. The church, from what I can tell, may have bee quite savvy to purchase all of this real estate over the past ten years. It’s a fairly secure investment. But it all paints a pretty clear picture of a religion interested not in changing people’s lives for the better, but instead is obviously a money making corporation hawking a belief system for profit.
