Here is an earthquake/flood/landslide hazard mapping tool for Portland from Metro: http://www.oregonmetro.gov/index.cfm/go/by.web/id=15113 Haven't tried it yet but I did see before that most of inner SE where I live is on valley sediment which can actually amplify the shaking of the earthquake. If you're closer to Mt. Tabor you're better off there on bedrock. It seems to me, tax incentives for property owners to seismically retrofit their buildings would be a good thing. Maybe some major stimulus funds should be used for seismic upgrades in Oregon and Washington. It would put people to work and could save a lot of lives.

this may b true but will it happen im 12 and dont want this to happen at school so if any1 knows a scienttist please tell me if there could b 1 at school they now make us do drills because of the petctonic plates im in 6th grade please tell me if there will b 1 thanks for ur suport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a 1994 OSU alumnae, I can assure you your son will be save behind a 4000-foot Mary’s Peak wall from the Pacific Ocean and OSU itself sets on million year-old gravels.

I would like to know the seismic safety of the buildings and especially the dorms on the OSU campus. My son will be a freshman at OSU in Fall of 2010 and his room is on the 4th floor in Wilson Hall. Any information would be helpful.
