Since the 1.1MW system covers 30% of the campus energy requirements and most of the hot water (which includes a 180,000 gallon pool), so the production of hot water is what would be more significantly affected. Also of note is that currently there is a solar hot water system on the roof of HT building which is in need of repair to function.

The projected carbon reduction of 19% for the 1.1 MW system is based primarily on the 0.35 lbs of CO2 per kBtu of electricity (PGEs current mix of fuel sources) versus 0.117 lbs of CO2 per kBtu from natural gas.
