Thanks for reading and for keeping me honest. Jan Johnson with Iberdrola Renewables told me that Leaning Juniper II will begin construction in May, but I have a call in to double check. I also have calls in to Caithness Energy and the FAA to confirm the number of letters, the status of the turbines and whether or not any construction has been done at the site. Caithness received 349 letters of presumed hazard… one for each and every turbine in the project. Not just one. Caithness has not started construction or poured concrete. The GE turbines Caithness has contracted are not built, and are not waiting at a terminal at the Port of Tacoma. The delays are resulting in job layoffs at GEs plant in Flordia where they will be built. Iberdrola on the other hand is in construction on Leaning Juniper II and has been for over a month. The Shepherds Flat Wind Farm represents a $2 billion dollar investment alone; add Iberdrola, Horizon, Gamesa, First Wind and all the other potential developers into the mix and eastern Oregon and southeastern Washington stand to loose more in the neighborhood of $5 billion dollars in economic investments, jobs, taxes to the states and the counties, and payments to landowners in just the next 3 years alone. All of the local developers are worried, and they should be. The Department of Defense claimed authority to control all development that is more than 0′ (zero) feet above ground level. Everyone should be worried… very, very worried. When your government seizes control of your land and your rights as a land owner by controlling your ability to build anything over zero feet tall is notonly absurd, it is a case of illegal use of emminent domain without justification or compensation. This isn’t science. This is pure politics. And the DoD is the bully! If this is allowed to stand, you will have to get approval to build a dog house (over zero feet tall) from the Pentagon!
