Why would they need a chapel?? They don’t hold services; they utilize classrooms and one on one conditioning sessions.

Can we stop calling them a church? This organization is in it for the profit, plain and simple. As for ‘helping people’ this evil empire has done far, far more damage than good. The sooner it goes belly-up the better for everyone.

I can’t imagine people wanting to eat a juicy steak while people on the floor above them are screaming at ashtrays to get them to stand up.

If it keeps a historic building operating in good repair, I say more power to them. I can’t imagine how anyone in Portland can afford to be a Scientologist, however!

“The church purchased the building from Seattle-based Urban Renaissance Group, which bought the building in 2007 for $9.75 million.”

Sounds like a good deal to me.

More of the cult’s victims’ money down another absurd rat-hole. Let’s see how long it takes them to lose _this_ building — and how much of a financial and spiritual blight it will create for downtown Portland along the way. 1200 members? LOL.
