But, it seems to have received more attention in the media than deserved. And, in this article, as well as in the Oregonian, the PDC decision to stay put in Old Town is presented as independent from Stoel Rives’ decision when in fact PDC made its decision, at least in part, because it appeared that the law firm wasn’t likely to move.

Daily Journal of Commerce, May 2010: “Andrews [PDC Chair] said he lost confidence in the notion the Park Avenue West would be completed upon PDC signing a lease with TMT Development after receiving a letter from Stoel Rives that didn’t confirm their commitment to the un-built building, and not even receiving a response from Nike.”

And, how about this vote of confidence in TMT Development’s reasoning from Grubb & Ellis managing director Dave Squire: “It’s not absolutely inconceivable that a building could be built on a speculative basis.” [Oregonian].
