I support high-speed rail! Transit projects should get much more funding than they do currently.

I wouldn’t dream of flying to Seattle or Vancouver BC. It’s that in-between length that is too far to drive and too short to fly. Rail makes perfect sense, although it will take a while to implement. By that time, there will be more people living the region and even more traffic at the airports and on the highways. I already prefer the Cascades line to driving, so I believe that it will only become more popular. Almost every seat is taken on the trains I’ve been on lately, which is at least once a month.

never is a long time… and with the rising cost of oil and refining jet fuel its a matter of time that people are going to not going travel and thus greatly hurting our economy… I’m mean if the price is right people will make the switch.

So called high speed Rail will never be profitable or able to compete with airlines.

It is too expensive to have to build and maintain all the rails!

Wait a minute. $.4.2 mil for studies directly related to high speed trains; $4 mil for Union Station, basically deferred maintenance.; & remaining funds for Seattle upgrades and retrofits.

How does that match with the implication that the money is for high speed rail and is, as the headline implies, for the tracks between Eugene and Vancouver?
