What a boondoggle. Using $681,000 dollars in attempt to rescue PDC’s poor investments. And what project or projects will be $681,000 less.

There is an implication, or my inference, that the root cause of the failure of these projects is that financial institutions want to know that there is in fact a tenant base, not just some vacancy rate or forecast data. Sorry – that seems like prudent investment.

And in the convincing firms to locate in either of these projects – what additional public financing will be contributed by the generous PDC?

“The public sector identifies the need and the private sector closes the deal.” When did the public sector become business savvy? And who benefits from populating these projects? PDC hasn’t yet shown its ability to identify any need, rather it demonstrates an ability to throw public money down the development rat hole.

Nothing like having a PDC board wiling to spend whatever it takes to satiate its development hunger. It is especially satisfying to know that the public has no say in how their money is used. Urban renewal turns our to be a rather opportunistic means of taxing property owners without the need for a vote.

It is comforting to know that private developers like Gerding Edlen can continue their profit taking at the public’s expense. Now that is capitalism only a developer can love.
