Having see first hand how professionally and responsibly PPS has handled the research into this bond proposal, I am surprised that a group such as Cascade Policy can put forth such an uninformed article. If we don’t invest in our public school infrastructure soon, it will decay beyond repair, and we will not only continue to lose families and jobs, but we will also lose precious, cultural icons which are centers of our communities. I’m all for responsible spending, but this proposal is essential for our city to recover from the recession and be prepared to compete in the next generation.

The district needs to hire a professional or two to re-work their plans and project estimates.

I’m not rich, and I don’t even have kids. But I will gladly support this bond measure. I estimate I’ll be paying something like $140 per year for this bond. Which turns out to be hardly more than $10 per month – the cost of a decent hamburger.

We all live in this city together. Would you rather see crumbling buildings and families fleeing to the suburbs, or new facilities to stand tall and represent our beautiful city? Isn’t that worth the price of a hamburger?
