A beautiful example of when space was optimized by great design. Nowadays it seems function is addressed merely by adding square footage.

excellent stuff. some of Belluschi’s best work are his smaller buildings. looking forward to the progression of this project

VERY much agreed, Bob! I don’t need a ton of space, either, and I don’t really like the condo lifestyle–shared walls, noise, near-public hallways, etc.

I would think that there’s a HUGE untapped market in Portland for well-designed homes that are in the 600-1200-square foot range.

What a terrific story! It is unfortunate we have littered the landscape of our beautiful state with “McMansions.” I hope this article generates more interest in developing small architectural gems to fill our urban spaces. I would love to have a home like this instead of my three bedroom house, which is far more space than I need. Unfortunately, there are not many options in small homes where I live, other than a condo, which really doesn’t suit my lifestyle.
