Looked more like a journalistic segue to me. The article was interesting in that is shows how politics can get in the way of development. Same thing happened with WalMart in Hood River. The beaurocrats couldn’t see beyond the Corporate name plate and parking lot to realize that WalMart supports their communities more than any other retailer in the Country. They were willing to jump through every hoop put in front of them and still it wasn’t enough for the local politicians to even try to work with them. Maybe they shoud look to see where all of WalMarts local produce and canned fruit and vegetables come from….hmmmm could it possibly be HOOD RIVER where all of that stuff is grown? Naaa…..I’m sure they bring it all in on a truck from Arkansas. I also look at Gresham Station. When first approached to lease space there, Borders Books said no…..no one in East County knows how to read. They ended up there anyway and that store turned more dollars per square foot than any other store in their chain. So, Fred, come to East County…..Troutdale has lots of space and open arms!
