My mom have lived on cleveland ave and beech street for 60 plus years. The new neighbors are not friendly to her, she is 89. I can imagine the new neighbors moving into the apartments claiming we want diversity, not true. It is so obvious you want only a certain type of tenant in your units. You are making sure that african americans will not be able to move back into the neighborhood. Shame on YOU and all who claim to want equality.

Interesting view on “affordable housing” claims, so they put in 18 affordable rental spaces out of the 84 planned and will call it “workforce housing”… hilarious! How much do you think the other places will rent/sell for… The building they put on Shaver is a monstrosity, it’s huge and totally kills the neighborhood feeling, if we all wanted to live in the Pearl we would move across the river. Keep the height down and maybe it will sit better with the neighborhood, add more affordable housing units in the space so that we don’t completely obliterate the culture of our neighborhood by pushing in more people who should probably live in the Pearl if they are looking for a condo vibe with shopping instead of changing an established neighborhood into the mess that is on the west side.

These developers are really pulling a fast one with this, “it’s about affordable housing.” 18 of 84 units will be reserved as affordable housing. Take one story off the building, so that it doesn’t mostly create apartments for people to look down on the neighborhood, and to raise the proportion of affordable housing units… then talk about affordable housing. This is housing to generate a quick profit for a small number of people, and when they’ve extracted all the value they can from our neighborhood, they’ll move onto somewhere else.

Hmmm… Seems like PDC is sitting on its hands with a bunch of land out in Lents. I know for a fact people would love a mixed use building – no fighting, no whining, just building, baby!

I think your neighborhood has a “warehousey” feel…

Therefore lets make a new building look like a warehouse. Gee, you think that may have something to do with neighborhood opposition?

Architects, always trying to find some lame excuse to justify their blind devotion to unwanted industrial themed designs.
