Higher foot traffic might not exactly translate into higher sales if the type of demographic for foot traffic does not match the type of business. I am not sure if that district is know for its fashion, or the people are fashion conscious. Regardless, it is a trend worth following.

Recently, I was delighted to see all the new shops popping up in Portland’s newly branded West End. I hope this will become a new shopping destination as unique boutiques/shops are lacking in the downtown area. As far as cheaper rents translating into savings for all of us–are you kidding me? These businesses have suffered through a tough economy trying to compete with big box stores and online sales. They are most likely barely making it as it is. They deserve all the support we can give them. So please shop local!
