In the County however, it is a different story. Unfortunately, the city dwellers out number the county when it is time to vote. Many residents in the county on the coast do not reside here year around. So they, voters and management alike, have let the county roads turn to total garbage while enjoying a certain amount of personal city comfort.

The county officials have failed the rural taxpayers repeatedly by not making the bond requests district specific and leaving us to pot hole away. If tourists don’t use it, the repairs never get considered. But let Brooten Road get a little hole, or Resort Drive in and out of Pacific City, wham next day service…

Time to wake up and realize the only way to get approval for rural county roads is to ‘only ask those affected’ to vote and I am sure you will gain support. Lower your expectations, and tighten your service area for bonds and see the change quickly.

Those who seldom leave the city and when they do, use state maintained roads, will never approve a tax increase for the good of all in the county. They never get to see the need! Yet we in the county have to pay to keep your city streets so nice. Time to consider a good greater than yourself!
