This is a much needed system, it will bring jobs in a city where unemployment is high . Vancouver is behind in time and it is time to create jobs. Every time Portland build a new light rail line new buildings rise a round it . I am a laid off construction worker we need jobs in this city. The majority people complaining is people retired and have it made. We want to have a retirement to.

Don’t call it high-capacity transit. Buses can more far more people per hour than light rail.

Call it what it is: high-cost transit. Light rail costs up to 50 times as much to start as equivalent bus service, and costs more to operate and maintain as well.

If that is so why does Vancover need to increase the sales tax by $5.5 million per year to fund the Portland Light rail?

I have read Tri Met material, that states the users of the Tri met systeem, only pay 20% of the operation costs and none of the capital construction, upgrades and maintenance.

The rest of the money has to come from? Non users and auto taxes and sales tax?

Why are we replacing a cheaper bus systeem that works now, with a Portland Light rail and it’s unfunded expenses in the future. The trip won’t be faster, cheaper or better. But someone will make a lot of money building and running for office ( by way of campaign contributions) on this boondoggle!

The city WILL NOT GET IT!!!! We don’t want it. We can’t afford it.
