Stories like this, are the reason WHY I work alone, as a general political activist! Heterosexual relationships like this example, serve to actually mock the sacredness of the institution of marriage, literally & figuratively! Meanwhile, millions of gay and lesbian couples, are not allowed to marry, adopt children, or express love for one another! Everyday in the media, one hears stories about older (and often married with children) male patriarchy type politicians getting caught with younger female interns. Later on, it is these same politicians, who go on, and accuse the LGBTQ++ community of promoting non-family behaviors? WTF? Our political system is broken! Note that Wingard had to be forced from his position, as opposed to his voluntarily stepping down. Why? Because he is guilty, that is WHY. Meanwhile, thousands of female activists of color (such as myself) work tirelessly (and everyday!) to promote the Common Good, and who work for free, not expecting recognition or accolades nor results, whatsoever. It is obvious where our priorities lie, considering that Wingard stood to receive a decent salary for his “violations”. Uh huh.
