Plus, nearly all cyclists have cars, so we pay insurance and fees to help maintain roads, even if we’re on a 30-pound bike.

Plus, studies are consistently showing that every dollar spent on bicycle infrastructure (not mere paint on a road, but actual bicycle infrastructure–cycle tracks, diverters, etc.) has a significant multiplier effect on the local economy (not to mention health, unbelievably lucratic eco-tourism, vastly reduced stress, increased creativity and so many other wonderful benefits!). Dollars spent on strictly car-oriented infrastructure, on the other hand, are a net drain on the economy.

So, there is every conceivable reason to continue to make Portland vastly more bike-friendly. We have incredibly far to go to become a truly bike-friendly city by anyone’s measure.

Green bike boxes exist solely to protect bicylists from their own stupidity. Claiming this is a “benefit” for autos, motorcycles and pedestrians is complete nonsense.

Everyone knows the games you’re playing. Only idiots and kool-aid drinkers are fooled.
