Last November our landlord hiked the rent $200.00 dollars. In July we were notified the rent was to go up an additional $200.00 dollars. That’s an increase of $400.00 dollars in less than a year. It gets better… In August on the 28th my husband dropped dead of a cardio failure. I notified the landlord the following evening of my loss of 27 years. Fifteen hours later he texted me that he thought “now was a good time” to, by text to evict me with 45 days notice. He doesn’t seem to care that the law requires written notice, and that notice must not be less than 90 days. I have yet to receive an official notice. I have retained an attorney. He has shared with his attorney that he feels I’m trying to bully him. Really? I am a disabled veteran and cannot effect a move by myself. If he wants to force me out without notice, he’s going to have to pay for it.
