I read nothing about the working conditions inside the building. Tiny windows afford hardly any natural light, nor natural ventilation. A cheaply built, hideous architectural icon that is of great disservice to the occupants and should be sold off, with the city should just renting space elsewhere. That to me would cost significantly less than the to be sure 200 million plus it will cost to renovate. Do the different departments have to interact with each other face to face all the time? Couldn’t they get a space with actual employee amenities?

We could build a brand new beautiful skyscraper for this amount of money. What a waste to throw it away on a building that is so ugly.

It’s a great, delicate project; I’m encouraged to see such a thoughtful approach being taken.

I cannot believe the city is throwing away so much money to save a monstrosity that is an embarrassment to the entire city. Most every Portlander would throw a ticker tape parade if this piece of trash was detonated, so please do not call it a city icon. That is an insult to the city.
