My wife went to the first meeting of this upgrade to the high school. We live along the teachers parking lot and have some old, big, and beautiful fir trees along our fence that are on Glencoe’s property. These trees are considered part of the protected wetland. We were told that they wouldn’t be cut down. A new revision of the plans came out, and guess what, they are cutting them down. Owe, and nobody in the neighborhood was informed of these revisions. They are supposed to have another meeting when revisions are made but there hasn’t been one. So they are not following Oregon law and we were lied to. These trees are in a level 3 protection area, which is highest it goes. From what me and our neighbors can tell, all this for 10 parking spots and a slightly bigger bus loop. Absolutely disgusting. From what we can tell, these trees are over 200 years old. We see so much wildlife because of these awesome trees. Squirrels, hawks, hummingbirds, and various other birds. We have even seen a couple swarms of bees nest in them for a couple days at a time when they are just passing through. The trees are right next to my fence. So when the roots die and rot I will have sink holes in my backyard. We were told by one the companies that will be taking them down that that would not happen, but yes, it will. So if me, or anybody in my family, gets hurt or breaks an ankle there will be repercussions.
