There is 100’s of years of domestic research that demonstrate the following always occurs with rent controls –

1 – Properties become dilapidated.
2 – Problem / Poverty / Crime ridden neighborhoods become entrenched.

These trends are not tomorrow, they are 10 – 20 years cause and affect. And when the damage is done, we will end up with slummy neighborhoods that are beyond repair.

“Oregon has become the first state in the nation with a statewide law capping rent increases. Gov. Kate Brown signed Senate Bill 608 into law on Thursday.” – This may be true in the present, but not true historically.

The other States learned from their mistakes – Oregon’s elected officials again demonstrate they don’t know their own (U.S.) history, or regard the lessons of the past.

Like approving zoning for high density buildings and than decrying the cars parked on the street… this will create a whole spectrum of problems that hindsight and foresight could have easily prevented.

Create more higher paying jobs.
Increase port traffic.
Increase rail traffic.
Increase agricultural exports.
