I work for a contractor for Intel who has a large presence inside the fab at Ronler Acres. The workers from my company who are in the fab are being told that, despite the fact that there is no way that social distancing can realistically be accomplished at all times, the work that they are doing is safe and so, should therefore, proceed. Workers are fearful.

Intel simply doesn’t want to shut down their operations plain and simple. If you’ve worked for Intel, you know how they operate. They’ll insist that they’re working inline with Gov. Brown’s mandate, but the fact is, they know and their contractors know that distancing is not possible when working with heavy equipment in order to complete procedures safely to meet deadlines – this isn’t talked about.

The fact that Intel got a “waiver” from Gov. Brown, is simply due to the fact that Intel is the largest employer in Oregon and has a lot of pull politically. Period. Intel preaches the mantra of safety first, but they don’t walk the walk.
