I’m not going to lie I think the building is a bit of a disappointment given its eye-popping price tag ($225M). Although I am not a researcher myself I think the labs are too small and the building layout is poor. Cramming a dozen plus lab members into a small open-concept write-up area seems like a bad idea. That being said, the building does not define the Knight Campus. This new endeavor will bring amazing minds to Eugene in the coming decades.

As an aside: I take issue with Angela Rice’s post. I care deeply about the homeless population and street people but I think the programs Angela proposes will just bring more troubled youth to Oregon. You think the Knight’s should “employ teenagers” instead of building the academic and research infrastructure for the 21st century? Good grief!
