All right, I’m going to start live blogging on my way to the meetings so I have something to do while I get lost.

Sitting at the bus stop by my school awaiting the 44 or the 56 to arrive. The funny thing is that I shouldn’t even get lost. I’m constantly downtown in the summer, but I suppose I don’t regularly go to construction and architecture buildings, so I’ll give myself that.

To be honest, I pretty much fell in love with track and that’s why I haven’t been able to attend recent meetings and blog updates. Meet days are Wednesdays, and my coaches don’t like me missing practice. But I realized it’s not cool to leave my classy glass team. It’s nice to take a rest and let myself relax; it’s beautiful weather to be running and throwing shot put, javelins and discus. But it’s also beautiful weather to be working hard on floor plans and budgets, eh?

Something I was very lucky to attend was the ACE luncheon, and I absolutely loved it. Biggest dilemma was not talking in front of the mic or even getting there. It was 1, trying to summer-ize business casual without it looking like a poorly executed outfit, and 2, trying to talk about this extraordinary experience in condensed time while Kevin (Jeans Gail) was controlling the microphone placement. I admit, I do talk way too much, but I had surplus things say to everyone about this experience. At one point he pulled the microphone away so I couldn’t talk; that’s my life in a nutshell. The quinoa was divine and I loved sitting with the employees from 91ÊÓƵ.

Something ironic about the event is that it’s the venue for my prom. I mentioned it and the women at the table immediately asked to see my dress; it was fun seeing professionals act like high schoolers again. They seemed truly excited for me.

As I mentioned at the luncheon, I am more excited to see all my friends and mentors than I am to struggle on those smart boards or with those yellow ruler packs. I feel like I’m a little too whimsical for this career; I hate technicalities unless they are related to sports. That’s my jock side coming out, but it’s completely true.

Live blog update from Sixth Avenue and Yamhill Street; I don’t think I’m lost.

The meeting was kind of fun because we kept saying “Best. Choose best quality. Go big or go home, right?” Then we ended up under budget – and boom, apparently plumbing is spendy and it went up a couple thousand (dollars). We joked about having a honey bucket, (only) it wasn’t really a joke. Then we all expressed our love and deprivation of BBQ chicken pizza.

After the all-student session, we to our group and chowed down on some pizza (although I was going to dinner and family game night afterwards, I helped myself to barbecue chicken pizza. Yum!), we had mouth loads of things to say, as always. We all just pointed out what the other groups did, and what we didn’t do. What they had and what we didn’t. It was a change of pace from our normal one-track “our group is the best – no one will have this idea” attitude.

Our mentors finally chimed in and told us that we had a great building; we just had to fine-tune some things and get the details grinded out. I presume that we will be a lot more efficient during our meetings from now on, and will probably keep our far-fetched ideas to ourselves.

We are an extremely loud, creative and opinionated group, which makes for great brainstorming and unique ideas, but not so much for the pen-to-trace paper aspect of the job. We usually get the job done, but we only have five weeks left. It’s time to get down to business.
