Howard S. Wright has announced a new president of the Northwest Division. Troy Dickson, a Portland-based executive, will replace Dan Peyovich.

“I am honored to follow in Dan Peyovich’s footsteps and continue his outstanding leadership and performance for our operations in the Northwest,” Dickson said in a statement.

Balfour Beatty operates as Howard S. Wright in the Northwest.

Dickson will provide oversight for the Oregon and Washington offices. He will work alongside the local leadership teams in both offices to help leverage collaboration.

“Troy has been instrumental in expanding the Portland business and a leader in the Northwest for the past 23 years,” Leon Blondin, Balfour Beatty’s U.S. executive officer, said in a statement. “He is a known advocate who supports and mentors our top talent and shares our company’s people-first mentality. We are excited to support and welcome Troy in his role with full support of our leadership teams across the nation.”

Dickson is known for his hands-on leadership that provides local team members with direction and support to ensure each project’s successful delivery.

He helped direct the pursuit and delivery of the Edith Green Wendell Wyatt Federal Building’s renovation and modernization, which was named one of AIA COTE top-10 examples of sustainable architecture and green design solutions in 2014. His resume also includes The Portland Building reconstruction, Broadway Tower, Museum Place South Development, Eliot Tower, the Elizabeth, and ODS Tower.

Dickson is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a degree in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited.

“I look forward to being a part of Balfour Beatty’s national executive leadership team in providing strategic oversight and support to our team members, clients and partners,” Dickson said in a statement. “With safety, operational excellence and our people-first commitment as our focus, I am proud to serve our teams locally and nationally in the successful and essential delivery of projects across our community.”

CBRE has completed its acquisition of Heery International Inc. from Balfour Beatty, the commercial real estate services firm announced. Agreement was reached in early October.

The move is not expected to result in immediate changes in operations here.

“Both companies will continue their regular operations in the Portland area,” CBRE spokesman Robert McGrath said. “They have some areas where they really strengthen us. Both businesses will be working together, and we are looking to expand and enhance our operations.”

Dennis Lawler, senior managing director for Heery’s Lake Oswego office said that little will change for clients or the 67 employees scattered throughout the Northwest. The 43 employees in the Portland area focus primarily on project management and commissioning services.

“One of the reasons that CBRE purchased Heery is they wanted to get into public sector work,” Lawler said. “They saw us as someone that has been doing public sector work for decades.”

He said that while many of CBRE’s acquisitions often eventually take on the CBRE moniker as their sole name, he expects Heery International to maintain its name.

“They told me … ‘You guys have developed a strong reputation and part of what we are paying for is your name and reputation in the marketplace,’” he said.

CBRE is one of the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firms, with 450 offices. Heery International is a multiservice firm based in Atlanta with 535 employees in 19 U.S. offices, including the one in Lake Oswego. It provides services including engineering, consulting, project management, architecture, interior design and commissioning.

The deal is reported to be worth $57 million.

“This acquisition advances our strategy to grow our project management expertise and capabilities,” CBRE’s Global Group President Mike Lafitte stated in a press release. “We are particularly excited about Heery’s ability to deepen our relationships in the public and educational sectors, grow our position in such new vertical segments as aviation and sports, and add capabilities and expertise in design engineering services.”

Nationally, Heery will continue to be led by President Ted Sak and Chief Operating Officer Glenn Jardine.

“We believe our expertise is a great fit with CBRE’s focus on delivering comprehensive, fully integrated commercial real estate solutions,” Jardine stated in the press release.
