Joseph Nguyen and Peter Chelico, co-founders of Buildskape, share a strong bond both professionally and personally. The pair met nearly a decade ago while working at Oregon Health & Science University. Nguyen was a project manager for OHSU and Chelico was a general manager for a contractor that performed work there.

Nguyen and Chelico found they had similar interests and started Buildskape in 2020. The Beaverton-based commercial general contractor focuses on small to medium-sized tenant improvement projects for government, educational, institutional and not-for-profit organizations.

“We enjoy working with a diverse group of owners, and figuring out a solutions-oriented approach to the project is the most exciting and rewarding aspect of our work,” Nguyen said.

Chelico noted that Buildskape is, first and foremost, a service company that solves problems for its clients. “The product is construction, but we’re a service business and I think that’s what we all enjoy,” he said.
