The Beaverton-based general contracting company will become on Jan. 1.

The new name is a combination of the surnames of the firm’s two senior partners, Tyler Mildren and David Wales.

For more than a decade the company has specialized in building more than 50 automobile dealership projects throughout the Pacific Northwest.

“We’ve also done some mixed-use, retail and restaurants,” Mildren said. “Dealerships are an interesting challenge – trying to figure out the corporate specifications and how best to meet the needs of the client.”

The firm, located on Farmington Road, expects to broaden its portfolio in the future, according to Mildren.

“We’re always looking for what we can accomplish next,” he said.

Inc. was founded just before the market tanked in 2007 but is on solid ground today.

Formed as LLC by Bob Lanphere Jr. and Jerry Jones Jr., its portfolio contains a number of auto dealerships as well as projects involving earthwork, demolition and underground services. The Beaverton-based firm also keeps several designers on staff and performs maintenance services. LCD doubled in size in the past year, and today it’s licensed in seven states, according to marketing manager Amy Chenier.

The firm was listed among the holdings of Lanphere’s father, Bob Lanphere Sr. – a notable Beaverton auto dealership executive – when he died last year.

Renton Honda

LCD recently completed the third-largest Honda dealership in the U.S. – a consolidation of several sellers under one roof in Renton, Wash. The $10 million job added a 157,225-square-foot, dual-floor auto dealership, replacing a big-box store on East Valley Road in south Renton. The showroom itself is larger than an acre and houses more than 50 cars. It was an important project for the city of Renton, which has become a car-buying destination. The architect was Axis Design Group.

Wilsonville Subaru

Going up in Wilsonville is what’s billed as the largest Subaru dealership in the world. Sited just off Interstate 5, the tilt-up project will feature 72 panels weighing between 30,000 and 80,000 pounds each for a total of 86,000 square feet. is the designer and engineering consultant Cardno is a key subcontractor.

Pacific Oak Dental

A 3,700-square-foot high-tech dental office in Forest Grove was completed recently. It has attached retail/office space, and featured a ground-up design from Kerry VanderZanden Architect PC.

Jones Farm Intel

Intel chose LCD as general contractor for its Jones Farm campus parking lot expansion, adding more than 500 parking stalls, stormwater treatment, landscaping and parking lot lights. The design incorporates an existing water quality facility. Cardno also worked on the project.

205 Commerce Center

LCD performed a $1.2 million exterior envelope upgrade to the 37,000-square-foot shopping center in Vancouver, Washington, owned by Kensington Investment Group. LCD went on to perform work outside its initial scope, including tenant improvements for several of the retail outlets, including Chipotle, Pizza Hut and AT&T.
