Timothy Eddy, founding principal of Hennebery Eddy Architects, and Roderick Ashley have been named to the American Institute of Architects’ College of Fellows.

Approximately 3 percent of AIA‘s membership are admitted to the college. The honor recognizes architects who have made significant achievements to both the profession and society on a local and national scale.

Eddy and the late Stephen Hennebery co-founded their firm in 1992. Today, it has a staff of more than 50 people and a collection of more than 50 local and national design awards.

Eddy in his career has worked on numerous academic building projects at schools including Willamette University, Montana State University, Portland Community College and Cascades Academy of Central Oregon. He also was the principal in charge of the renovation of the Federal Reserve Bank building in Portland.

“The important thing for me is how I am able to advance our practice as well as the things I care about,” he said. “My career has been built around sustainable design, urban design and education. It’s certainly an honor.”

Currently, Eddy is leading design of the Concourse E expansion at Portland International Airport and a new residential learning campus at Yellowstone National Park. He serves on the boards of the Northwest Earth Institute, the Architecture Foundation of Oregon and on the advisory council for Montana State University’s school of architecture.

Ashley has worked throughout the western United States for more than 30 years. He started his career with what is now TVA Architects before starting Roderick Ashley Architect.

Most recently, Ashley has worked on projects such as the Lemelson Foundation offices in Portland and Digger Mountain Retreat in Alsea. He was featured among the Reader’s Choice Top 10 in Fine Homebuilding Magazine in 2010. He was honored by the AIA with its Northwest Pacific Region Award in 2011, the Portland Craftsmanship award in 2010 and the Nevada Merit Award in 2009.

His work with the Franklin Residence in Portland resulted in the Portland Women’s Architectural League naming it House of the Year in 2003.
