Wade Goen is no stranger to starting businesses from the ground up. He brought that experience, as well as more than 40 years of doing seismic retrofits and new construction, to Green Mountain Fabrication. The company opened in 2019 in Woodland, Washington, and Goen serves as general manager.

Green Mountain’s recent work includes the four-story Thesis Headquarters in Northwest Portland, a cross-laminated timber structure that garnered a 91��Ƶ 2024 Top Projects award. It also supports its sister company, Platinum Industrial, with steel needed for projects.

Goen said he appreciates Green Mountain’s owners for their commitment to obtaining employees and supplies from within the local economy.

“We’ve got 27 employees now and a lot of them are here in Woodland or Longview. A lot of people are happy they don’t have to go clear into Portland, and it helps keep the money local here, too,” he said, adding “we couldn’t get it done if we didn’t have a great team that gets along and works well together.”

Green Mountain often partners with Woodland High School to introduce career opportunities to students in metal shop classes. It also donates its scrap materials to the school so students can hone their welding skills.
