{"id":98,"date":"2018-09-19T15:57:04","date_gmt":"2018-09-19T15:57:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staging.djcorprod.wpengine.com\/skilledmag\/?p=98"},"modified":"2018-09-19T15:57:04","modified_gmt":"2018-09-19T15:57:04","slug":"agc-gives-workforce-development-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/djcoregon.com\/skilledmag\/2018\/09\/19\/agc-gives-workforce-development-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"AGC gives workforce development grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Associated General Contractors\u2019 Oregon-Columbia<\/strong> chapter last month announced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agc-oregon.org\/agc-awards-230000-support-workforce-efforts-2017-08-30\/\">recipients of workforce development grants<\/a> totaling $230,000.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the most the organization has donated in recent history, and $13,000 more than it gave last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oregon State University<\/strong> received the largest sum, with $67,600 going to its School of Civil and Construction and Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Oregon Building Congress<\/strong> got $35,000 for workforce development, primarily at local schools. The <strong>Northwest College of Construction<\/strong> received $25,000 for its Construction Career Pipeline program, to support 130 students becoming journeymen. <strong>Constructing Hope<\/strong>\u2019s pre-apprenticeship program received $15,000 for a no-cost, nine-week pre-apprenticeship course for 125 disadvantaged people. The <strong>Clark College Foundation<\/strong> received $10,000 for support materials for the second year of the Professional Edge for Construction program for 50-60 high school graduates and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Other grant recipients include <strong>Business Education Compact<\/strong>, <strong>Impact NW<\/strong>, <strong>Portland Youth Builders<\/strong>, <strong>Oregon Tradeswomen Inc.<\/strong>, <strong>Oregon Institute of Technology<\/strong>, <strong>Portland Workforce Alliance<\/strong> and the <strong>Willamette Education Service District<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Associated General Contractors\u2019 Oregon-Columbia chapter last month announced the recipients of workforce development grants totaling $230,000.
