It’s May and in Southwest Washington that means it’s time again for the annual Dozer Day celebration of .

This year offers the 14th year of the popular event, which offers children and their families a fun introduction to and the trades. It also raises money for the , which provides support to metro-area children’s groups, little leagues, school districts and more.

The 2018 event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Clark County Fairgrounds, at 17402 N.E. Delfel Road in Ridgefield, Washington.

Dozer Day started in 2004 at the Cemex-owned Fisher Quarry in Vancouver. It moved to the fairgrounds a few years ago to better accommodate crowds, but the invitation to adults is the same: bring your and watch them take advantage of the chance to operate heavy machinery and talk with people in the construction industry and skilled trades. Even fire and police vehicles will be on hand.

This year’s event also features a new addition: the first Dozer Day career fair. Today, more than 200 Evergreen Public Schools students looking to pursue design/build careers will talk in person with industry employers.

鈥淜ids will actually be able to operate machinery as they meet with construction-related businesses,鈥 Dozer Day organizer Aimee Gebarowski said. 鈥淚nteractive exhibits will educate about the wide range of industry careers while offering actual job opportunities to students who are ready to enter the workforce.鈥
