Pamela Saftler, a TVA Architects principal, has shaped the Portland design community for more than 35 years. After joining the firm 29 years ago, she helped lead its evolution into a majority women-owned practice with a renewed focus on service and community impact.

Saftler鈥檚 leadership philosophy centers on intentional design that influences how people feel, interact and move through spaces. 鈥淚鈥檝e always believed that great design goes beyond aesthetics,鈥 she explained, emphasizing attention to detail and collaboration as essential to elevating projects.

Through her role at TVA, Saftler champions mentorship for women in design and student engagement in creative careers. She has served on the Architecture Foundation of Oregon鈥檚 Van Evera Bailey Fellowship review committee for four years, supporting the $50,000 annual fellowship that funds community-centered work by architects and design professionals. She has also participated in AFO鈥檚 Architects in Schools program, connecting architects with elementary students to introduce them to the profession and inspire future designers.
