Afton Walsh

Organization
Walsh Construction
Title
Project Manager and Community Outreach Director

Afton Walsh leads Walsh Construction鈥檚 community outreach and, as a builder herself, is trained in anti-bias and micro-aggression avoidance. She is dedicated to building trust with COBID firms and often applies her construction knowledge through mentorship.

Walsh mentors others through the Portland Business Development Group (PBDG), LatinoBuilt, Constructing Hope, Portland YouthBuilders and Benson High School. She has taught several classes at the PBDG Training Center.

Through the Port of Portland Mentor-Protege Program, Walsh helped spearhead a team from Native American Youth Family Center, Sisters in the Brotherhood, Carpenters in Action and others to successfully reconstruct NAYA鈥檚 pavilion.

She spearheads Walsh鈥檚 Women Who Build luncheon in honor of Women in Construction Week to celebrate the contributions of women throughout the industry. She also is a partner in EmpowerHER, a workforce development program based on the premise that students decide the one thing in their neighborhood they would want to change through design. Then industry members and companies combine efforts to offer a community-based design and construction workshop to make that change happen.
