Faye Burch, principal of F M Burch & Associates, has dedicated her career to creating pathways for equity contractors, particularly BIPOC and women-owned businesses in construction and transportation sectors. Recognizing barriers to opportunity, she co-founded several organizations designed to connect minority contractors with major infrastructure projects throughout Oregon.

Burch has contributed to Professional Business Development Group, NAMC-Oregon, and Metropolitan Contractor Improvement Partnership to systematically share project opportunities, industry values, and essential training resources. Her approach transformed how equity contractors access information about projects.

Her leadership extends across numerous organizations advancing minority business development. Burch served as a board member of Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon for 16 years, including three years as chair. She remains actively involved with the Business Development Institute, Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity, Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs, Albina Vision Trust, and Self Enhancement Inc.

Brenda Castillo, owner of JC Pro Builders, has built a thriving construction company over eight years while championing opportunities for women in the industry. Under her leadership, JC Pro Builders in 2025 secured a $4 million contract 鈥� the company鈥檚 largest to date. The company also has implemented employee benefits for its workforce.

Castillo鈥檚 approach centers on breaking stereotypes for women in construction and creating pathways for future generations. 鈥淵our mind is the only one that will stop you and not anybody else,鈥� she explained about her leadership philosophy. She cited her family and community as driving forces behind her career success.

Castillo serves on the boards of LatinoBuilt, PBDG and BDI, where she continues advancing her mission to transform the construction industry. Her work focuses on ensuring future generations of women can visualize success in their hands without facing the barriers she encountered. Through JC Pro Builders, Castillo demonstrates that passion and determination can reshape traditionally male-dominated fields.

Mike Clifford, vice president and general manager at Mortenson, has spent 25 years building a distinguished career in construction with the company. He has 27 years of industry experience. He opened Mortenson鈥檚 Portland office in 2012, establishing the company鈥檚 presence during the economic recovery and fostering its growth throughout the following decade. Clifford relocated to Portland in early 2010, recognizing the city鈥檚 potential despite economic uncertainty.

From the start of his career, Clifford set out to be an exceptional builder. He discovered the real key to success isn鈥檛 just technical excellence 鈥� it鈥檚 the relationships you build along the way. He explained that trust and surrounding himself with talented people have become central to his approach. His leadership philosophy is simple: do business with friends. He enjoys working alongside his team members, trusted partners and customers who share that commitment.

Clifford serves on the boards of Greater Portland Inc. and the Construction Career Pathways Project, contributing his industry expertise to regional economic development and workforce initiatives.

Andrew Colas is president of Colas Construction, where he has worked for 26 years carrying forward his father’s vision for the Portland-area company. Under his leadership, the firm has grown to become one of the region’s largest general contractors while maintaining strong community roots and relationships.

Colas serves as board president of the National Association of Minority Contractors and vice chair of the Black Business Association of Oregon. He also serves as board chair of New Avenues for Youth and on the Portland Metro Chamber board. He was an inaugural member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Oregon.

“My greatest accomplishment is hearing people say that our team is doing a great job living up to my father’s vision and mission for the company,” Colas said. He noted that as the company has expanded, it has remained focused on balancing competitiveness with care for people, the local economy and the environment.

Stephanie Coyle is executive vice president at Hoffman Construction, where she has built a 30-year career in the industry. Throughout her tenure, she has focused on making the construction industry more accessible for women, mentoring and developing female professionals who have become role models for future generations.

Coyle鈥檚 leadership approach emphasizes humility and gratitude, believing every opportunity carries potential for growth. She leads by example, refusing to ask others to undertake work she wouldn鈥檛 do herself. Drawing from her own experiences with mentors who provided space to grow while offering unwavering support, she strives to create similar environments for her teams.

Beyond her corporate role, Coyle actively supports entrepreneurship and professional development. She has been involved with the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs and Professional Business Development Group, serving as both coach and judge for the OAME Youth Entrepreneurship Conference.

Dave Drinkward, now with 29 years of experience in the building industry, is president and CEO of Hoffman Construction. He has led the employee-owned company through transformative growth. Under his leadership, Hoffman evolved from a regional contractor into one of the largest construction companies in the United States, generating annual revenues exceeding $5 billion while maintaining its Pacific Northwest roots and collaborative culture.

Drinkward explained his success stems from 鈥渁 people-centered approach to business鈥� that prioritizes employee well-being and empowers decision-making at all levels. He noted the company鈥檚 employee ownership structure creates 鈥渁 strong workplace culture rooted in transparency, shared commitment to success, and care for each other at a deeper level.鈥�

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Drinkward serves as trustee and advancement committee chair at Willamette University, incoming chair of the Oregon Business Council, and board member for ACE Mentor Program of America and Meals on Wheels. He previously served on the board of Constructing Hope, a Portland pre-apprenticeship program supporting workforce re-entry.
