OREGON 250 |

Matt Leeding

Organization
Walsh Construction
Title
President

Matt Leeding joined Walsh Construction in 1980 as a laborer shortly after graduating from Oregon State University with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in business and a minor in construction engineering management. He worked as a carpenter, assistant superintendent, superintendent, project manager and senior project manager before becoming president in 2014.

While every project has been different, some common themes are the internal feeling of accomplishment he felt at various stages of his career and the people he has worked with.

鈥淲hether it was the owners, architects and engineers I got to work with, or the subcontractors involved to accomplish a common goal, it was the people I got to work with and learn from that is my greatest career accomplishment,鈥 he said.

His leadership philosophy is to supply team members with the resources they need and get out of the way, especially since people in the construction industry tend to be problem-solvers.

鈥淕iven how team-oriented people here at Walsh are, really my job in leading them is to just support them,鈥 Leeding said.
