Leon Araiza鈥檚 Native American heritage has taught him the value of operating his construction business with dignity, honor and respect, and fostering collaborative and welcome partnerships with others in the industry.

Araiza鈥檚 company, Advanced Tribal LLC, is a Salem-based MBE/DBE multidisciplinary company that provides design-build, construction management and general contracting services for the commercial, government and residential sectors.

A graduate of the Port of Portland鈥檚 Mentor Prot茅g茅 Program, Araiza also trained at the Turner School of Construction Management and in the Portland Prime Contractor Development Program.

Araiza continues to expand his business acumen through NAMC University. He has developed an invaluable network that includes the National Association of Minority Contractors鈥� Oregon chapter and industry partners such as Andersen Construction.

With a commitment to giving back, Araiza is a training agent for the Northwest College of Construction. He works with apprentices, providing on-the-job training and mentoring.

Janique Bacharach combined her experience as a paralegal with her passion for commercial construction to help guide the company she leads with her husband through the pandemic, protests and a private-sector downturn.

Founded in 2014, Bacharach Construction started out in residential construction but now does strictly commercial projects and many of them public work. Bacharach joined the company in 2018 and her legal background helps ensure compliance with myriad building regulations.

She takes particular pride in bringing people into the industry who might otherwise not have considered it. 鈥淭here are folks who I have promoted who I don鈥檛 think other companies would have,鈥� she said, noting her company鈥檚 high retention rate.

鈥淐onstruction, at large, is not a place that usually focuses on dignity, and we don鈥檛 take projects unless our employees are able to have work-life balance. We want them to have something in their tank when they get home to their family at night,鈥� she added.

Bacharach is active with the Xcelerate Women Community Action Committee, the Portland Business Development Group and Gamut Project Solutions.

With more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, Travis Baker is a builder at heart and one most fulfilled by building relationships. He is passionate about Andersen鈥檚 people and its clients. He strives for Andersen to deliver best-in-class projects every time.

Baker began his career with Andersen in 1999 and served in several operations roles before becoming the first president without the Andersen name, or the first 鈥渘on-Andersen鈥� president, in 2018. The following year, he began serving as chief operating officer as well as president. As CEO, he is responsible for guiding the company鈥檚 four regions and leading its vision at all levels of decision-making.

Baker graduated from George Fox University with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in business. He holds an MBA in management & organizational leadership.

Stephanie Balbin, an architect, is a Lease Crutcher Lewis estimator who has dedicated her career to design excellence and expanding opportunities in architecture. As a Filipina architect, she has challenged cultural expectations while building a practice centered on mentorship and community impact.

Balbin has partnered with Vernon Elementary through the Architecture Foundation Oregon鈥檚 Architects in Schools program for more than eight consecutive years, inspiring students and supporting emerging professionals. She focuses on creating spaces that foster connection, belonging and resilience in communities.

She serves as secretary of the National Organization of Minority Architects鈥� Portland chapter and has been a board member since 2023. Balbin is also involved with AIA Oregon and the Architecture Foundation of Oregon.

Her leadership philosophy centers on listening and creating environments where people feel supported while pursuing excellence together. She measures success not only through the structures designed and built, but through the opportunities created to shape the next generation of architects.

Blake Barnhart serves as division manager at Rosendin Electric. After serving the firm for more than 11 years, he has built a career focused on cultivating high-performing teams and driving organizational growth.
