Matt Goodman was born and raised in Portland but began his real estate career in New York City. While there, he worked in JP Morgan’s Global Real Assets group and subsequently at GI Partners, a private equity firm focused on real estate.

In his role as a vice president of Downtown Development Group, he is the fourth generation of the Goodman family in company leadership. His great-grandfather, Walter, was a co-founder of City Center Parking in 1955, and his grandfather, Doug, grew the company beyond parking lots and founded Downtown Development Group.

Goodman earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at Yale University and an MBA at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He serves on the boards of the Portland Business Alliance, Oregon Sports Authority, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Clean and Safe, Pioneer Courthouse Square and LOCUS.

Downtown Development Group and its affiliates have an ownership interest in more than 1.5 million square feet of residential, industrial, retail and office space within Portland’s Central Business District.
