CONSTRUCTION

Pete Sipos, vice president of North Santiam Paving Co., has been elected board president of the Asphalt Pavement Association of Oregon (APAO) for 2020. This will be Sipos’ second term as president during 10 years as a board member. APAO has many goals for this year; some include: improving work zone safety standards and practices, providing training to asphalt pavement technicians and crews, ensuring the industry improves how it combats mental illness and suicide, and working with educators to inform young people of construction career opportunities.

Joseph Hughes Construction has added John Fifield as a project manager. He has 20 years of field, supervision and project management experience. Fifield previously worked for Portland-area contractors, and participated on new city hall projects for the cities of Tillamook and King City. He has a bachelor’s degree from Portland State University with emphasis on supply and logistics management, real estate finance, and management and leadership. Currently, Fifield is serving as project manager for a 12,000-square-foot industrial building project in Scappoose.
