Katherine Berg, a ZGF Architects partner, has spent 30 years advancing sustainable design and enriching human experience through architecture. Her portfolio spans health care, child care, corporate office, mixed-use and research projects, demonstrating innovative approaches across diverse building types.

Berg led the design of the PAE Living Building in Portland, the 35th fully certified Living Building globally, achieving profound sustainability within a developer鈥檚 financial framework. She directed an all-women team of architects and engineers for the Seattle Storm Center for Basketball Performance, creating an elite facility celebrating women鈥檚 sports.

Her design process emphasizes deep listening and research to understand client vision, cultural influences and site context before developing solutions. This approach consistently produces resource-efficient, health-focused spaces that positively impact communities.

Berg serves as trustee for The Nature Conservancy of Oregon and advisor to the Colorado Mass Timber Coalition. She is a member of the Living Future Institute and has lectured at the University of Oregon and University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin.
