Douglas Obletz of Shiels Obletz Johnsen Inc. has been selected by Multnomah County to be a project manager for the East County Justice Center Project.

SOJ, based in Portland and Seattle, specializes in managing complex urban development projects in the public and private sector. Selected through a competitive process with eight other firms, SOJ has worked on many Portland development projects, such as the Portland Streetcar system, the renovation and development of projects at Pioneer Courthouse Square and a new central library for the city of Tigard.

Obletz will provide oversight and advise the county on cost-saving measures. A graduate of Colorado College, Obletz managed the development of Pioneer Place, assisted the city of Portland on light-rail projects and is involved with the Portland mall revitalization project.

The East County Justice Center project will create a new courthouse for Gresham. A partnership between the city of Gresham, Multnomah County and the state courts, the new courthouse will include multiple courtrooms, space for the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Gresham Police, and holding cells.
