The Associated Builders and Contractors joined with the Modular Building Institute to deliver medical relief to Haiti. The alliance, called Start Today and Rebuild Together, or START, will provide 12 modular containers filled with medical supplies.

Plans call for the organization to set up a base camp for volunteers, build permanent housing and commercial infrastructure, and raise money and awareness for long-term assistance.

Rebuilding the country will help not only in the short term but will establish stable buildings that can help the country better withstand another quake like the one that hit in January, said John Killin, president of the ABC‘s Pacific Northwest chapter.

“Contractors are always searching for ways to help, and ABC is taking a proactive approach,” Killin said. “The next time a tragedy like this happens, we’ll be ready.”
