Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, or ADA: a law enacted by the U.S. Congress in 1990 to “establish a clear and comprehensive prohibition of discrimination on the basis of disability.” The law requires public entities and accommodations, such as transportation, facilities and communication, be brought up to defined standards to allow access and use for Americans with disabilities.
