Sewer projects face Portland City Council

Portland City Council is set to approve two sewer replacement projects worth a combined $4.4 million at its Wednesday meeting. The projects will replace 11,000 feet of combined sewer main in Northwest Portland.

After council approval, the projects should go out to bid in three or four weeks, said Linc Mann, spokesman for the Bureau of Environmental Services.

The larger Nob Hill project, worth an estimated $2.9 million, will replace 7,000 feet of mains. The Wilson project will replace 4,000 feet for around $1.5 million.

Sewer mains in both areas are old and deteriorated, Mann said. They’re part of an ongoing program to identify and replace mains in the worst condition.

Money comes from the bureau’s sewer system operating fund.
