Landslide closes Oregon 47 near Mist

The Oregon Department of Transportation closed Oregon Route 47 this morning in both directions after a landslide near mile marker 50 and the town of Mist.
A geologist is inspecting the nearby terrain to see if workers need to stabilize the hillside, said Brad Wurfel, a spokesman for the agency.
“We’re waiting for her report,” he said.
Oregon Route 47 is a connector road that winds through the mountains and landslides are common this time of year, he added.
“What happened is not unusual by any means,” Wurfel said.
